Professor Liam Smeeth

Professor Smeeth is Professor of Clinical Epidemiology and Head of the Department of Non-communicable Disease Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He also undertakes clinical work as a General Practitioner in north London and is involved in a wide range of activities for the National Health Service.

Much of his research is based on making better use of computerised clinical data both to investigate drug effects and disease aetiology. He holds a Wellcome Senior Fellowship in Clinical Science and is a trustee of the British Heart Foundation. His broad interests include disease aetiology, drug effects, genetics and non-communicable diseases in low income settings.
